Illness
Procedure
If you cannot work due to illness, you have to call the company first thing in the morning to inform them. You also have to contact us, before 10am, to let us know as we must register you officially sick with the UWV (Social Security System). As soon as you are better you have to call us again, as we must register you better with the UWV. You also have to call the UWV yourself. Please make sure you do not forget to do so.
After we have registered you ill, the UWV may decide to give you a call or to come to your house. You may also be asked to attend an appointment with one of their own doctors. Do not be alarmed by this, as checking up on sick employees is one of their tasks. If you are back at work before the date of the appointment with a UWV doctor, then you do not have to attend this appointment. Just make sure you have given them a call to let them know you are better.
N.B. Please make sure you comply with this procedure - if you do not call us on time the UWV may fine you!
Payment
The first 2 sick days are not paid, but as from the third day onwards you will receive 70% of your salary paid via the UWV and 21% from you salary from insurance company Achmea. In your reservations you build up a small percentage that partly covers the second day. The UWV will pay your sick pay within 4 to 6 weeks after you have been ill. The remaining 21% will be paid by Achmea, this payment takes place monthly.
Be aware!
As a result of the Dutch Flexibility and Security Law, a temporary employee's contract will end the moment the temporary employee gets ill. Once you are better, you can resume your work with the company, but officially this is seen as a new contract.
According to Dutch law, a fourth contract with the same company (not the agency) must be an indefinite contract. You should be aware that you will already receive a fourth contract with the company if you have been reported ill twice during your temporary contract. Please bear this in mind whenever you report yourself ill, as this may have an effect on whether the employer will hire you in the future.
