The Business Development Manager Food Segment (France/Iberia) is a key element of the European marketing team and member of a global leader in packaging and labels solutions. The BDM is responsible for executing a comprehensive marketing strategy that drives growth in the Food market. He/she will be expected to connect with key decision makers within the food manufacturing segment in order to build a solid opportunity pipeline and drive the overall adoption of pressure sensitive label materials. As a member of the European Food Segment team, the individual would be accountable for contributing to the overall food segment strategy and delivering new business opportunities (either by gaining incremental market share, converting existing technology to pressure sensitive labels and/or through innovative product development). To be successful, the BDM must be capable of building relationships with Brand owners, Marketing Managers, Packaging specialists, Retailers, Manufacturing operations, Procurement, printing convertors and Design Agencies.
The key responsibilities of the Business Development Manager Food Segment (France/Iberia) include:
Focusing on the Southern European Food Market to identify and manage the opportunity pipeline through brand owners and printing converters.
Driving the penetration of Pressure Sensitive Label Technologies with Food applications.
Actively contributing to the channel strategy in which to grow the pressure sensitive label market.
Interpreting and utilizing market intelligence to track key trends, size the market & monitor key competitors
Developing and implementing marketing tools to educate customer service, channel partners, design agencies, and brand owners.
Identifying and managing critical alliances with channel partners.
The ideal candidate will have not only a strong sales & marketing background, but will be able to act in a consulting manner. Brand owners expect suppliers to know the market, the customer's business and their competitors. To be convincing, one will have to learn their operations and capabilities, understand the brand owner's goals and what options are available to help them succeed and to have a competitive advantage in the market.
requirements
The Business Development Manager position requires a minimum of 5 - 7 years working experience within the Food industry. Packaging experience highly valued. Candidates should have relevant experience in marketing and/or packaging design.
Education: A Bachelors Degree in marketing, business, or other relevant discipline is required and an MBA preferred.
Other key skills and experience include:
Deep understanding of the Food packaging industry.
Excellent project leadership skills in multi-functional team settings; able to lead a team without hierarchical authority against challenging deadlines.
Demonstrated capability to develop relationships across functions.
Ability to network with end users, customers, and channel partners.
Significant experience in developing market strategies and
implementation plans - with exposure to general business/management issues and their resolution.
Resourceful and proactive in solving problems.
Capable of conducting a detailed analysis and recommending clear action plans.
Bias toward action; ability to have an impact.
Professional and approachable style. High degree of personal integrity; sense of duty to contribute meaningfully and an attitude willing to share credit for accomplishment.
Fluent in business English.
Mother tongue French and/or Spanish plus being comfortable to hold a business conversation in both the languages.
