Our client is an international company that manages an investment fund used for projects in developing countries. They work together with a portfolio of leading development finance institutions and microfinance investors with the aim to offer sustainable currency solutions to participants in its target market whilst expecting a profitable market based return.

They are currently looking for an Operations Associate to join their international team in Amsterdam. The Associate Operations is engaged in the following activities:
- Preparing and delivering accurate and timely reports to management, investors, donors, regulators, and other stakeholders. - Maintaining and improving the reporting systems in liaison with internal and external providers. Tailor-made reporting is an increasingly important part of the business. - Performing controls and administrative tasks of a financial and general nature (preparing invoices, approving expenses, tracking costs vs. budgets, preparing financial forecasts, updating data in the funds prospects, performing signature checks, satisfying the requests of auditors, overseeing the work of service providers, preparing operational risk assessments and incident reports, etc.); - Performing periodic reviews of files of the counterparties; satisfying the counterparties needs with accurate and up-to-date information.- Supporting the Legal & Compliance and Risk & Capital Management in the execution of some of their duties, particularly with respect to the corporate secretarial function, the regulatory compliance function, and counterparty risk management. - First line of defense on IT issues. Development of an IT policy. Liaison with external IT providers and website support.
- Business continuity planning and testing.
- Back-up for the Office Manager.
The ideal candidate has 3-8 years of experience in (development) finance or related functions in a (regulated) financial services environment. Next to this, he/she possesses some or all of the following competencies:
o Basic understanding of corporate governance, structure, and documentation;
o Basic accounting skills;o Basic understanding of derivative products (and definitely the willingness and ability to learn about these aspects of the business);
o Familiarity with operational and credit risk management and control;o Familiarity with the Alternative Investment Managers Fund Directive and/or the European Markets Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR);
o Familiarity with IT systems, networks, and policies;o Result-oriented, pro-active personality with a flexible and dynamic approach to working with minimum direction and supervision;
o Ability to multi-task under tight and multiple deadlines; stress tolerance and patience;o Support and co-operation oriented with a focus on operational excellence; understanding that a team effort will yield maximum results;
o Highly organized and dependable;
The position requires a good knowledge of the numerical and graphical functions of MS Excel, confidence with handling large data sets, and comfort with data mining and translating data into professionally-styled MS Word and PowerPoint documents.
University degree (business, accounting, economics, law, etc.)
English fluency is a must. Dutch fluency would be ideal. The day-to-day language is English, the fund’s documents and reporting is in English, and the bulk of the applicable laws and regulations are in Dutch. The Associate’s writing skills will be such that little or no editing is required.
